Online live Workshop-4

October 28th at 14:00 EST / 19:00 UK / 20:00 CET

Question: What do ‘specialised’, ‘contextual’ and ‘conditional’ all have in common?

Answer: They are all used to describe a subset of Clean Language questions used occasionally when the logic of a client’s metaphor permits.

While modelling David Grove we noticed  he would ask a small number of ‘basic’ questions over and over. Yet there were other questions he used much less frequently. By tracking when David asked these questions it became clear he was responding to the logic inherent in the client’s information – not just the words the client used but what was presupposed. We called them ‘specialised' Clean Language questions. Later they were also known as ‘contextual' or ‘conditional' questions, because asking them cleanly depends on the application or on what is happening in the client’s landscape.

During the fourth workshop in this series we will reveal how we listen to the inherent logic and what prompts us to ask a specialised question – and still remain clean.

You may have heard of them, but have you looked in-depth into:

  • When you're justified in asking one on behalf of the client’s metaphor landscape?
  • When and how you might use them repeatedly?
  • And when not to ask them?

We’ll also cover why these clean questions are particularly useful in other applications, such as Clean Language Interviewing.

- You can participate in this workshop without having been part of workshops 1, 2 or 3. And you can also join us as a member to receive access to all 2019 workshops within the theme 'How do you know what question to ask?' -

How it works

Live online learning, with all your materials in one place

  • Pre-work

As soon as you join us, you will get access to the pre-work for our live session together. The pre-work can be a short exercise, a video to watch or an article to read, paired with some questions to help you reflect on the topic. This way, when you enter the workshop you are prepared to dive in and get maximum benefit from the event.

  • Our Online Workshop

On October 28th, 19:00 UK time, we meet in our online workshop room in Zoom. You'll hear and see all the participants as if we are in a physical room together. There will be opportunities to do activities in small groups, providing a rich learning experience. All you need is a device with a camera and microphone, and internet access of course.

  • Your library of learning materials

All pre-work, the recording of the live workshop and any extra materials will remain available for you in the InsideClean portal. The workshops are planned so that learning can happen on many levels, and the more you go back and review, the more you will learn, and the more your skills will improve.

  • Accessible from anywhere

We have planned this online workshop so everyone, regardless of skill level, can benefit. No travelling necessary. You can explore the depths of this work and have rich learning experiences from the comfort of your own home.
