About InsideClean Series 4

The theme for Series 4 of InsideClean is Logic: The glue that holds inner worlds together. This invaluable material was presented in four 90-minute interactive workshops:

2. Space: Structure matters
3. Form: The nature of stuff
4. Perceiver: Who knows what

About logic
You can’t see, hear or touch logic – you have to infer it, discern it or figure it out. So what is logic?

Logic is how we make sense of the world.
Logic is how we reason.
Logic makes a belief believable.
Logic justifies our decisions and actions.

Logic connects our experiences. It orders them, puts them in sequences, scales them and gives them a place in our life. Logic helps us create meaning and gives our lives continuity, coherence and comfort.

At the same time, our logic binds and beguiles us. It’s the glue in what David Grove called “replicating mechanisms”, processes that keep us repeating unwanted behaviours, even when we know they're not good for us.

The four workshops of Series 4 will examine how as facilitators we can cleanly invite a client to examine the logic of their logic; to face the reality and consequences of a logic they never asked for, nor had much say in its creation or maintenance. Then, as the glue loosens the possibility of something new can emerge.

Logic comes as a package that has been honed over the entire life of the client. In fact, much longer than that because so much of our never-questioned and taken-for-granted logic comes from our culture. We will examine four characteristics of logic using one of the first frameworks we used to make sense of David Grove’s work: Time, Space, Form and Perceiver.

  1. Temporal logic of sequence, choice points and degrees of inference
  2. Spatial logic of schema, containers, paths and networks
  3. Formal logic of inherent qualities, function and scale 
  4. Perceiver logic of agency, cause-effect and multiple perspectives
